Rocking The Daisies Adds Porter Robinson To Its Lineup

THIS JUST IN. Electronic music junkies cannot shut up about Rocking The Daisies’ latest lineup announcement. What is the announcement you ask? Well, US EDM DJ Porter Robinson has been announced as part of the Huawei Culture Club Electronic Dome lineup at this year’s Rocking the Daisies, SA’s premiere eco-friendly music and lifestyle festival, taking place from the 1 – 4 October 2015, at Cloof Wine Estate in Darling. To get a good idea of what Porter Robinson sounds like, take a listen to Worlds below.

We’re pretty confident Porter Robinson will deliver a mind-blowing live performance at this year’s Rocking the Daisies. It is written in the stars. Speaking of stars, his co-stars at the Huawei Culture Club Electronic Dome include SCUBA, Thor Rixon, Dean Fuel and Haezer. That is one stellar lineup.

“Two years ago,” remembers Porter Robinson, “I only had the inkling of the idea that I wanted to do something different. I needed to do something that was honest and real,” Porter explains. So he turned down countless DJ offers in 2013 to spend the entire year Rambo-styling his way through a process of introspection and reinvention. “I figured that one way to develop a unique identity as an artist would be to combine all my favourite things in music — it would result in something that is really personal, a collective expression of my taste and experience. Something nobody else has.”

It was these very notions that birthed Porter’s 2014 release, Worlds, a cinematic excursion demonstrating technological prowess underlining a current of colourful melodies. His first studio album, Worlds set the foundation for an unlikely common ground featuring Porter’s eclectic array of inspirations: Kanye West’s Graduation, Daft Punk’s Discovery, The Postal Service, the list goes on — plus a collection of orchestral movie scores. Porter says, “I don’t want to be the flag bearer for any genre. I don’t want to ‘change the game’,” he says. “I really just want to have my own signature; my own sound. I know it sounds crazy, but I want to start my legacy.”

So yeah, best you get your tickets fast. And don’t forget, there’s a new, novel payment method for this year’s RtD. You can find out all about it by CLICKING HERE.
